How to Boost Curb Appeal with Copper Bay Windows + Other Exterior Options

Posted by Northface Construction  - Owner & Founder

Last week we talked about building curb appeal by adding the cedar siding to this beautiful Minneapolis home. Well, that project would not be complete without the copper bay windows we installed to accent the siding and gorgeous bay windows.

Benefits of a Copper Bay Window Roof

Bay windows have been a long-standing addition on homes as an upgrade to the usual window, they give a more wide-angle view to the outdoors and can give the illusion of a larger room from the inside. They are a great addition to any home, and what we have done here with the copper roof has given it a unique look, rather than matching the original roof.

One benefit of using copper here is that it is incredibly resilient and long-lasting. We are talking upwards of 100 years of life in this material. Additionally, copper will change color over time, it will go from shiny brand-new-penny copper to patina, an almost fully green color like the Statue of Liberty looks today. This happens from oxidization, which is chemical reactions within the metal, kind of like rust and corrosion of iron, but the end result is much more stable and aesthetically pleasing.

On top of being a product that will last a lifetime, its natural aging process gives a unique look that can go with many styles of home. Copper awnings have been adopted by the average homeowner and aren’t just seen as top tier design element anymore. We can fit your custom copper awning to any window with any siding you like! Don’t have a bay window? No problem – let’s build one!

This cedar siding and copper bay window is just the beginning of what is possible when it comes to revamping your home’s exterior. We can do some really cool things by staggering shiplap siding, giving a unique, unpolished texture to your walls and siding.
