GAF Timberline Shingles (Product Review)

Posted by Northface Construction  - Owner & Founder

Hot off the press — we’ve got the updated GAF Timberline Shingles! Some of the main things we’ve seen changed are the nail out, which is wider, with more space to nail but under the same warranties. Not only is there more space to nail, but the tar will now lay directly on asphalt, not granules. You can see in the video, there are far fewer granules on the backing, if any, which can fall off and flake off, which can affect its adhesiveness.

NEW AND IMPROVED GAF TIMBERLINE SHINGLES

This allows faster sealing at lower temperatures, with the tar sticking right to the flat surface. The tar used to take about 8 hours at 40 degrees to fully seal, but now takes only 2 hours and 40 degrees to be fully sealed. This can also give your shingles a higher wind rating, with better bonding.

Another new feature that allows these to have a wider nail strip is a line of divets on the back. There are about 19 divets that, when heated up, will bind the two sides together. This helps protect the seal against missed nails because there is some margin of error with crew members nailing with 100% accuracy. This wiggle room provides safer performance with room for error and ensures a solid seam.

TIMBERLINE SHINGLES ARE A GREAT OPTION

Getting a new roof can be an important decision because it’s a big investment in your home. Roof installation is expensive, and you need to choose the right materials, both for the look and the performance of your roof. When making this choice, you want the best value you can get for your investment and that is why Northface Construction recommends GAF Timberline roofing shingles.

A roof is one of the most important parts of a house structure, and problems there can cause headaches in many other areas of the house. Roof leaks can result in wood rot, mold and mildew, peeling paint, and even damage to the foundation of the house. It’s important to get your roof evaluated by a qualified roofing professional every few years to make sure there are no problems with it.

When the time comes for replacing your roof, one of the best options on the market is the GAF Timberline Shingles. They are a great option for roofs because they are durable, and protect against leaks, buckling, and blowing off during storms and high winds. They have a Class A fire rating, too, which makes them ultra-safe. Timberline shingles come in a wide variety of color blends, and they are easy to install. They are priced to fit in with all budgets. These shingles can complement any home’s style, and they look good for decades.

A Timberline shingle can take pretty much the worst in weather — wind, rain, hail, snow, sleet, intense heat, or cold. There are many types of roofing materials you can look at when you’re making a decision about getting a new roof installed, but Timberline shingles have a lot to recommend them. That’s probably why they’re consistently one of the top-selling brands of shingles in North America.
